Well, we finally had to replace an AC unit. We've had to fix them several times in the last couple years, primarily replacing the fan motors. But this one had the compressor short to ground, and the compressors on these are not replaceable. So, we ordered a new one and replaced it.

We have MicroAir Easy Starts installed on all three AC units so they can run off of our inverters or a small generator. The Easy Starts reduce the initial current draw of the compressor when it turns on, which is what typically causes problems with inverters.

I decided to give the Dometic Smart Start a try, as it's a Dometic product going on a Dometic AC unit. The install was pretty easy, and functionality is nearly identical to the MicroAir Easy Start. See the comparison at the end of the video.
