On our second trip to the Grand Canyon, we skipped the campground in the park and boondocked just south of the entrance. The site was great, and it was a nice, peaceful retreat from people.

While there, we decided to hike the Bright Angel Trail. Last time here, we hiked the South Kaibob Trail. It was in December, and we turned around prior to reaching the bottom to ensure we made it back during daylight hours.

So, we were determined to get to the bottom of the canyon this time around, and we documented the route and what to expect along the way. Spoiler alert - if your in reasonable shape, you can do down and up in a day. But....it was 18 miles total, from the parking lot, so keep that in mind.

Our boondocking site was a 10 minute bike ride to town and all it had to offer:
Forest Service Road 302
35°58'06.6"N 112°07'05.2"W
