Well, at the end of our second winter in the Salt Lake area, we finally took some time off from winter sports to go downtown and explore a bit. Being the de facto home of the Mormon church, we spent some time at the Temple Square and the history museum. The spring weather was beautiful, and the walk from the Capitol was nice - and it was a great way to get some steps in.

There is also a really original combination indoor/outdoor mall across from the Temple Square, and we spent some time there as well. The City Creek mall is complete with fountains, an indoor creek, and an atrium style glass roof that is open in the summer. Pretty cool for a shopping mall, recommend you check it out.

We actually broke our day trip into two half days - no need to be too ambitious, and we didn't want to leave the dogs home all day long. Both days were nice, and it allowed us to get two dinner spots in. One was "Taste of Louisiana", in the Woodbine Food Hall, for cajun food, and "Spitz" downtown for some Mediterranean food. Both were good.
