Few trees can claim to have more knobs than the knob thorn, and there are almost no other members of the tree-families-previously-known-as-Acacia with leaves more distinctive. But the knob thorn is more than just a visually striking tree. It’s also a potent medicinal one with a long history of traditional use in many parts of Africa. On a trip through the wilds of Bikita in south-eastern Zimbabwe, Gus (the African Plant Hunter) takes time out to share some of the diagnostic identification features and traditional uses and beliefs around this fascinating tree.
