Driving down from the mountains of Mutare in Eastern Zimbabwe, one of the vanguards of the approaching lowveld vegetation are the very large and impressive, multi-stemmed Nyala berry trees around Hotsprings and Nyanyadzi. When you first catch sight of those trees, a small thrill of anticipation tells you that you will soon be out in the real bush. On a recent trip to the Save Conservancy, Gus (the African Plant Hunter) was fortunate to come across a cluster of these beautiful trees and shared some insights.
