About the content:
Assam, the land of culture is enriched with colourful tapestry of different tribes. Unique in its own tradition and culture, Sonowal Kachari is one of the major tribes in the region.

The Sonowal Kacharis believe that they were the descendants of the great Boli Raja, Prahlada, Ghatotkacha, Bhagadutta, Bana, Norakasura and Bhaskar Barman. (The name of ‘Boli Raja’ is vividly mentioned in the tale ‘Haidang Husari Geet’ of the Sonowal Kacharis.)

According to some oral chronicles, Ban Raja, son of the great king Boli Raja, had four sons namely Dimasa, Garo, Bhalukbir and Hogra.

Hogra went to upper Assam with a group of Kachari people and took shelter in the homes of some Miri tribes. They then formed Kachari families with Hagu Miri, Likam Miri and Dofola Miri and established the Halali Kingdom.

Later on, they came to be known as the Sonowal Kacharis. Few terms or names related to their culture have been brought into the song.

Most of the Sonowal Kachari girls are good weavers which is a matter of pride for them. The term Gatung used in the song is a traditional shirt knitted with 14 buttons worn by men, which represents their 14 generations.

The Sonowal Kacharis worship Khring Raja and Gojai Guru. The Haidang Geet, known as the family tree of Sonowal Kacharis includes the history of their clans. A traditional Leseri Bihu song is also introduced in the second part of the song.

As Sonowal Kachari herself, Dimpy Sonowal through this rendition in her own stylistic flair has made an attempt to highlight the rich cultural heritage of the tribe, reflecting its beauty and innocence.
