The Big A 50K trail race in York, Maine is a small, grassroots ultra with a fantastic family-vibe among the race organizers, runners and volunteers. The course is mostly single track in the Mount Agamenticus Conservation area with moderate technical footing and a good amount of climbing/descent, (but no huge climbs in terms of total elevation).

The race is a fundraiser for trail construction and maintenance costs incurred by the Town of York for the trails in the surrounding area. Runners provide food items for the aid station at the start/finish. There's a BBQ post race and wonderful views at the start/finish atop Mt. Agamenticus.

This is the story of my friend Jeff Bellistri coming back to finish the race in 2018 after dropping around mile 25 in 2017 (terrible rain/cold that year).

Race start: 02:03
First Aid Station: 07:53
Nick drops: 10:30
Jeff struggles: 14:00
Jeff makes it to the finish: 17:18
