Exploring the Tamron 28-200mm Lens for Sony A7C II 🌟 In this video, I share my experience with the Tamron 28-200mm lens, a popular choice among photographers. I decided to purchase this lens instead of the newly released 28-300mm. Here’s why!
Wide Angle to Telephoto Versatility 🌄 Previously, I used the 16-35mm lens for landscape photography. Now, I wanted to try telephoto shots without constantly changing lenses. The 28-200mm offers a great range from wide-angle to telephoto, perfect for various shooting conditions.
Why Not the 28-300mm? 🤔 The 28-300mm lens has a smaller aperture and is more expensive. The 28-200mm, with its f/2.8 aperture at 28mm, provides better low-light performance and bokeh.
Aperture Performance 🌟
At 28mm: f/2.8
At 50mm: f/3.5
At 70mm: f/4
At 200mm: f/5.6
Macro Capabilities 🐞 The 28-200mm lens also offers decent macro capabilities at 28mm, allowing for close-up shots with good focus.
Build and Handling 🏋️♂️ While not as compact as Sony’s prime lenses, the 28-200mm is well-balanced with the Sony A7C II. The zoom and focus rings have a smooth feel, and there’s a lock button to prevent zoom creep.
Video Shooting Features 🎥 For video enthusiasts, the lens comes with a zoom configuration file for gyro stabilization, making handheld shooting more stable and fun.
Capturing Fast-Moving Subjects 🏃♂️ To capture fast-moving subjects, a high shutter speed is essential. Even with the sun still up, the ISO can reach 1600, so a larger aperture is beneficial for maintaining image quality.
Image Stabilization 📸 While lens stabilization is not a must-have, as Sony cameras generally have in-body stabilization, it’s still a nice feature for static shots at 200mm with slower shutter speeds.
Final Thoughts 💭 Thank you for watching! I hope my experience helps those looking to purchase a telephoto lens. If you have any questions or need further advice, feel free to leave a comment below!
