Welcome to Episode 2 of Ladakh Travel Vlog! In this video we travel through Nubra Valley - making stops at Panamik and Yarab Tso, before stopping for the night at Diskit.

Travel Tips - 

The distance from Leh to Diskit is around 112kms and takes about 3.5 hours. Nubra valley lies at an even lower altitude than Leh, and is the perfect place to visit to continue with the acclimatisation.

Two days of acclimatisation in Leh has been made mandatory, before heading to Nubra Valley. Though “permits” are no longer required for Indian tourists, you need to pay Environmental fees and mention the places you’ll be visiting after Leh. The form will be checked (pdf copy on phone) at checkpoints, along with your Boarding pass (if needed).

Before you reach Nubra Valley, you will go through Khardung La, which lies at an altitude of ~17,600 feet. Needless to say, you need to be well acclimatised when you visit this, and try not to stay here for more than 10mins. Drink plenty of water! 

As you proceed towards Diskit in Nubra Valley, you get a junction - one side goes towards Panamik and Yarab Tso, and the other side towards Diskit and Turtuk. Panamik makes for a good day trip, which you can visit before making your way back to Diskit or Hunder.

Video Highlights :

Khardung La - At an altitude of 17,600 feet, this pass will take your breath away - literally so! 
Personally, I found this place to be crowded with heavy fumes from parked vehicles. Drive a little bit further, and make pitstops along the way instead. There are some beautiful ones! 

Panamik Hot Water Springs - Naturally occurring hot water spring, the water is very hot to touch! 

Yarab Tso - A sacred Buddhist lake. You need to hike a little (not a tough route at all) to reach this small, yet gorgeous lake! 


Other Things to Do - Visit Siachen Base Camp.
