◆Support for ‘Mayangone B.E.H.S No.2’ with Water Purification Facility and School Supplies - [ In Environmental Protection, Education ]◆
Timely rain of hope wet classroom of 40°C

On Jun 1, 2018, the Intl. WeLoveU Foundation held a donation ceremony of water purification facility at Mayangone B.E.H.S No.2 located in Yangon, Myanmar.

Most schools in Myanmar are operated with the aid from outside organizations due to their poor financial condition.

Mayangone B.E.H.S No.2, which is one of them, has about 4,000 students with six grades.

Due to the financial situation, it wasn’t easy for the students to go out and buy water to drink, and 1/3 of the students didn’t have a bag, pens, or notebooks, which are basic school supplies.

As the water treatment facility broke, the students couldn’t even drink water freely.

The old water purification facility that was already installed in school was too small for all 4,000 students and it often broke.

It was left neglected because it could easily break again even if they paid a great deal of money to repair it, due to its capacity problem.

Due to the financial situation, it wasn’t easy for the students to go out and buy water to drink, and 1/3 of the students didn’t have a bag, pens, or notebooks, which are basic school supplies...

◆미얀마 ‘마양곤 제2고등학교’ 정수시설 및 학용품 지원 - [환경보전, 물·위생보장, 교육 ]◆
섭씨 40도 교실을 적신 희망의 단비

2018년 6월 1일, (재)국제위러브유는 미얀마 양곤에 위치한 ‘마양곤 제2고등학교(Mayangone B.E.H.S No.2)’에서 정수시설 기증식을 열었다.

미얀마에 있는 학교 대부분은 재정상태가 좋지 않아 외부 단체의 지원으로 운영되는 곳이 많다.

그중 마양곤 제2고등학교는 6개 학년에 4000여 명이 재학 중이다.

학생 수가 많아 오전반과 오후반으로 나누어 운영되고 있으며, 대낮에는 40도까지 기온이 오르는 교실에서 학생 50~60명이 빼곡하게 모여 수업을 받는다.

정수시설이 고장 난 탓에 물도 자유롭게 마실 수 없었다.

기존 정수시설은 학생 4000명을 수용하기에는 용량이 작고 고장이 잦았다.

비싼 수리비를 들여 고쳐도 용량문제로 금세 고장 날 수 있기에 거의 방치되다시피 한 상태였다.

학생들은 경제 사정이 넉넉지 않다보니 밖에 나가 물을 사먹기도 쉽지 않았고, 3분의 1은 기초 학용품인 가방, 펜, 노트도 없이 학교를 다니고 있었다....
