Marvão é uma vila e sede de um concelho no distrito de Portalegre, localizada no cimo da serra do Sapoio, Alentejo, Portugal. Marvão foi conquistada aos mouros pelo Rei D. Afonso Henriques nos anos 1160. Em 1226, D. Sancho II dá foral e manda ampliar o castelo.

Marvão is a town and seat of a municipality in the district of Portalegre, located at the top of the Sapoio mountain range, Alentejo, Portugal. Marvão was conquered from the Moors by King D. Afonso Henriques in the 1160s. In 1226 D. Sancho II granted a charter and ordered the castle to be expanded.
