On yet another SUPER early summer morning, I decided to make a big trip over to Maryland in hopes of finding some monster bass and snakeheads. I met up with Sidney and Zach, two guys who know the area well, and we fished this brand new spot for a good part of the day. Many huge snakeheads have been caught at this particular spot lately, so we were hoping to get in on the action as well. By the end of the day, there were some dragon snakeheads caught, so I would definitely consider this snakehead fishing trip a success for us.

Big thanks to Sidney and Zach for having me out at one of there favorite snakehead fishing spots. It was a fun day, and I hope we can get out on the water again soon to find some more Maryland snakeheads. Maryland snakehead fishing has been hit or miss all summer long, and this video gives you a good sense of that. IMPORTANT NOTE: While Snakeheads are a non-native species, biologists have discovered over the last few years that the damage they cause to the ecosystem is not nearly what was once expected. Many bodies of water containing these fish have successfully adapted to their presence. I encourage you to thoroughly research the data that is out their regarding snakeheads before you make an uninformed comment saying that we should have killed the fish. That being said, everyone is entitled to their opinion regarding these fish. We simply ask that your opinion be formed on actual data and research, not what you heard from a friend or read on facebook.

The body of water that we fished already has a healthy population of snakeheads. Killing a few fish would do absolutely nothing in regards to eradicating the species from that body of water. Instead, you'd be wasting the life of a perfectly good gamefish. Here at Orange 22 Fishing, we encourage you to practice catch and release on all species of fish, including snakeheads.
