When you get up at 1:30 in the morning to leave for a snakehead fishing trip, the fishing better not disappoint. In this case, it certainly didn't! I got up at the earliest time I've ever gotten up to go fishing, and we once again took a journey into Maryland to look for some monster snakeheads. We went to a river that has a lot of them, and it has some absolute giants too, so my expectations for this day of snakehead fishing were pretty high.

We met up with two friends of mine who fish this river a lot more than me, so once I got there, we all paddled out to some spots on the river that are known to have big snakehead populations. Maryland has been very productive for me this year when it comes to snakehead fishing, and once again, I was able to have a successful day. If y'all want to see more Maryland snakehead fishing on this channel, be sure to let me know in the comments section!

IMPORTANT NOTE: While Snakeheads are a non-native species, biologists have discovered over the last few years that the damage they cause to the ecosystem is not nearly what was once expected. Many bodies of water containing these fish have successfully adapted to their presence. I encourage you to thoroughly research the data that is out their regarding snakeheads before you make an uninformed comment saying that we should have killed the fish. That being said, everyone is entitled to their opinion regarding these fish. We simply ask that your opinion be formed on actual data and research, not what you heard from a friend or read on facebook.

The body of water that we fished already has a healthy population of snakeheads. Killing a few fish would do absolutely nothing in regards to eradicating the species from that body of water. Instead, you'd be wasting the life of a perfectly good gamefish. Here at Orange 22 Fishing, we encourage you to practice catch and release on all species of fish, including snakeheads. We will continue to do so, and we hope you will do the same as well.

No matter your opinion on this topic, we do thank you for watching our video and supporting our channel!

Tight lines,
Dave and Matt
