On Episode 57 of the BPerryFilms Podcast, I will discuss two video formats many Creators want to explore. These two methods are called Short-form and Long-form video, and let me tell you in advance that both styles have advantages and disadvantages. Each video method has its own aesthetic and target audience.

For this presentation, I want to compare the two kings of social media that have been compared for the longest: YouTube and TikTok. YouTube is the largest search engine video platform owned by Google and has the power of SEO and long-term research ranking. Once a video has been uploaded, it doesn’t disappear on the internet like other platforms. Many people who use this platform post long-form videos that showcase stories, visual format, and illustrations that are more descriptive and have a more long-term effect. TikTok, the newest competitor, is the king of short form. TikTok is primarily known for having clips under a minute that are more action-packed and entertaining. Like many short-form platforms, the only catch with TikTok is that it has a hard time ranking in search as creators overpopulate it with so much content broken into industries and audio played.

For this episode, I want to share my tips on what a coaching call would be like when new creators decide to join social media for the first time. I always recommend that they choose two platforms to host their content and then decide what level of commitment they want to invest in the platforms, as consistency is key. Next, you must determine what type of content you want to produce regarding your long-form and short-form content and how you will deliver the information. Then, you need to figure out what niche to test out that you have a lot of experience with.
