Half an hour from Liberia, Costa Rica, the Santa Rosa National Park contains an abundance of wildlife. And, for history enthusiasts, is the site of a short battle that defined Costa Rica's identity.

Even before approaching the park's gates, the flora and fauna of Santa Rosa are plentiful. It's best to look all around as birds and monkeys can be spotted high amongst the dense foliage.

Once inside, there is a small museum and tributes to the Costa Rican defenders of the 1856 Filibuster War and a 1955 insurrection, both conflicts starting from nearby Nicaragua.

Matt has a tranquil hike and stroll through Santa Rosa where he is accompanied by lots of iguanas, who also enjoy the park's settings.
