Channel 4 starts this programme by giving a warning about the discussion of sex and therefore the language is of 'a necessarily explicit nature'!! Times have very definitely changed.

STDs now called Sexually Transmitted Infections are covered from Chlamydia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chlamydia) and Pelvic Inflammatory Disease to Hepatitis. The programme reports that it's cost and anti-gay prejudice that stopped vaccines being given.

AIDS appears in part 2. Information provided by the Terrence Higgins Trust "for homosexuals" is quoted. There's an open and, for its time, a frank discussion amongst a group of gay men from Manchester. These are men that I knew and worked with on AIDS throughout the 80s. I've no idea if, in 2022, they are still alive.

There's a discussion of bi-sexuality, in very hushed and timid terms. This leads onto a discussion of Herpes which was a 'plague' for heterosexuals in the early 80s.

This is one of the first discussions of 'Safer Sex' on mainstream TV.

The silence over the end titles is not a fault but a copyright complaint over the song 'Love Hurts' which I chose to use YouTube's mute function.
