Highlights of a Barnet Sunday League Roger Jones Challenge Cup Second Round match between Division Four rivals Edmonton Rovers and North West Wolves.
Played on Sunday 22nd September 2024 on Edmonton Rovers new Home pitch for this season at Clowes Sports Ground in Winchmore Hill.

This is Edmonton Rovers current group of young players 4th season in adults football in the Barnet Sunday League with the whole squad now being 19-year-olds who will be turning 20 during the course of the season. There are also five other players who are a year younger, but all players are now 18 or over. The decision to bring them in as 16-year-olds in 2021 has been a big success so far and you can follow their journey up the divisions with us here with every match being filmed for this You Tube channel. Rovers have had a great start to the season in Division Four, winning their first two matches without conceding a goal. They also have defenders Tobi Charles and Jack Vanvynck available on the subs bench today to strengthen the squad defensively even more, but it's in attack that Rovers are short for this match with Myreon Keane, Christian Ellis, Rashawn Bennett-Dyer and Jordan Amusan all away for the weekend, so Player-Manager Josh Wakeford's starting line-up more-or-less picks itself with new signings this season Max Melandri & Leo Panayiotou the only forwards available, while the same back four and midfield quartet from the previous week's impressive 3-0 win Away to London Orient are all available to start the game again.

North West Wolves have also started their season well as they are in second place in the Division Four table with a win and a draw from their first two matches. However, that was achieved mainly as a result of forward Stephane Arthur...a new signing this season...scoring five of their goals in those two games, but he is one of several regulars missing for the Wolves today, leaving them with just a bare eleven including their other potent forward (and Player-Manager) Adam Karim having to play in goal.

The last time these two teams met (in a Division Five match the season before last), the boot was on the other foot as Wolves had a strong side out while Rovers had to play most of the match with only 9 players including two 66-year-olds due to players either turning up late or having to come off injured. That resulted in a farcical 21-0 defeat for Rovers as they decided to play the game in order to avoid a fine, but this match will of course be very different with Josh Wakeford and Harry Dorward the only survivors from that match who are in Rovers starting line-up for this one.
