Highlights of a Barnet Sunday League Division Five match between fourth-placed Edmonton Rovers and League leaders London Orient.
Played on Pitch 3 at Enfield Playing Fields on Sunday 10th December 2023.

Rovers were frustrated by having their match Away to second-placed Mill Hill Club De Futbol Seconds called off the previous Sunday for an apparent frozen pitch when they would have been fielding more-or-less a full-strength squad of 16, this denying them a win that would have seen them go top of the table with another victory in this match.
As it happened though, Rovers were only able to name two substitutes for this fixture due to players dropping out just an hour before the kick-off and others being unavailable due to injuries, family and Xmas social commitments. That included goalkeepers Ritchie Redgrave and Kai McAuley plus numerous defenders or defensive midfielders, leaving Rovers really short in that department with their only substitutes Harvey Antoniou and new signing Jordan Amusan...another 18-year-old....both being forwards.

London Orient on the other hand turned up for this match with a full squad of 16 despite missing four regulars themselves, and although one of those players on the bench was a 60-year-old in Charlie Griffith, they still fielded a strong side that included forward Marius Rusu, who came into this game second in the current Division 5 goalscoring charts, well ahead of Rovers top scorer Myreon Keane. Indeed Orient had only lost once all season so far in the League with a narrow 4-3 defeat to Enfield Albion, although they did lose 6-2 in a Cup match to high-flying Division Four side Whetstone in their last match which might have dented their confidence a bit.

With the average age of London Orient's squad for this match being 34 compared to Rovers 18, this should be a fascinating battle between youth and experience and a great test of how much Rovers young players have learnt over the past two and a half seasons.
