Adobe Photoshop & After Effects CC 2024: How To Create Animated Textures

This tutorial will show you how to create a frame by frame animation in Photoshop and then import into After Effects to extend the duration.

How Create Frame Animation Texture in Photoshop:
1. Open Photoshop
2. Create New Document
3. Size 1080 x 1920, 72 ppi, Transparent
4. Add Textures
5. Open Timeline (Window…Timeline)
6. Click (+) to Duplicate Frames
7. Select Frame 2 with Move Tool (V) to move texture
8. Select Frame 3 with Move Tool (V) to move texture
9. Repeat for 10 Frames
10. Click arrow below frames to change Delay
11. Change Delay to 0.2
12. Press Play Icon to Play Texture


How To Render Video In Photoshop:
1. Go to File Menu
2. Export
3. Render Video
4. H.264, 1080 x 1920
5. Click OK to Export

How To Extend Duration of Animation in After Effects:
1. Open After Effects
2. Create a New Composition (1080x1920, 24fps, 60 sec)
3. Double-click empty space in Project Panel
4. Select Texture Animation exported from Photoshop
5. Right-Click on Texture Animation
6. Select ‘Interpret Footage’
7. Select ‘Main’
8. Go to ‘Other Options’
9. Enter (99) Loop Times
10. Click ‘OK’
11. Extend Texture Animation on Timeline for as long as needed
