Day 54 of 75:
But it was an AWESOME stay in the Redwood Forest!! What a fun experience!
Now it’s time to head back to California 1 and drive to Pismo Beach!!! Fun, Crazy road!! 🤪
Alexis was sure to hang out the window a bit and get fresh air to help with the curvy road. We also supplied her with some serious ginger soda to help with nausea- it totally worked!!
Airidessa Airstream hangs on for dear life as Jason masters the curves!! I’m just amazed at his driving skills as my abs get in an awesome workout to stabilize my body! 😜
We cross the Golden Gate Bridge and see a small part of San Francisco. Looks like a fun place! I love the colorful architecture!

Things were going well until... We Got stuck in Santa Cruz traffic.
Stop.
Crawl.
and Go a little.
and Stop.
for 3 hours!!!!!! 😩😱😳
There is no way we are making it to Pismo Beach tonight.....
I called every campground within 2 hrs south of Santa Cruz and most don’t answer the phone past 4pm. Carmel By the River RV Park answered and had a site, but for a hefty price tag. $150. 🤑 But we were desperate so we bit the bullet. Out most expensive campsite. Ever. 😳
Desperate times call for desperate measures.

Day 55 of 75:
Our last day driving down California 1!! Pismo Beach is our final destination!
We travel through Big Sur to see the last of the Coastal Redwoods and on to Ragged Point which totally fits the name (see google map screen shot below) 😱!!
Next is San Simeon where we see Hearst Castle in the distance. We were hoping it would be a little closer as you could barely tell it was a castle it was so far away.
San Simeon is also home to our favorite stop along California 1 - the Elephant Seals!! There are usually at least a few along the beach, but we lucked out with a whole crew of males that had come to shore to molt which takes about one month. A member of the Friends of the Elephant Seals was on site at the boardwalk sharing information about these fun creatures. He also had a piece of fur that we were able to feel. Alexis said she just wanted to snuggle up with the elephant seals. They were “almost cute” and very noisy!! 🤣
Airidessa Airstream made it on California 1 from Leggett to Pismo Beach!! And the rest of the family did okay as well. 😉
And I can check off California 1 off my bucket list!!! Thanks, Babes!! It was NOT Jason’s first choice to do this, but that’s what LOVE is all about. 😘🥰
We decide to unhitch at Pismo Beach Campground so we can explore the area. To our surprise you can drive on the beach! We enjoy the Pismo Beach sunset as we drive up and down the beach careful to not get salt water on the truck. 😎
Pismo Beach knows how to party!! 🤩🥳
We are loving it here!! 🏖🌅🛻🏝
