Day 56 of 75:

I will always treasure these memories we’ve made. Thank you, Heavenly Father, for allowing us this extraordinary and unbelievable experience exploring Your inspiring creation!!

Although we’d like to stay a bit longer, our time on the Pacific Coast has come to an end.......

But we have a lot of awesome stops on our way back home to Michigan!!!!

But first a little tire repair. We picked up a nail in one of Airidessa Airstream’s tires, most likely on that crazy construction road going to Many Glacier. But no fear, Medina’s is here! They very kindly fit our repair in and then only wanted to charge $15 for the fix! We highly recommend Medina’s if you’re ever in the Pismo Beach area. 😉

With Airidessa feeling fancy with her mini pedicure, we are off to Sequoia National Park!!

King’s Canyon and Sequoia National Parks are quite impressive with mountain views, big forests, a canyon, and lots more we’ve only just begun to see on our drive to Sunset Campground - aptly named with beautiful sunset views overlooking Fresno.

Day 57 of 75:

We excitedly head over to the Giant Grove of Sequoia National Park to hike the Big Trees Trail and see General Sherman - The BIGGEST Tree in the World!!

But to our disappointment the area is super crowded and packed with people. Not one parking spot in sight. 😞

We haven’t had any issues up until now, but for future reference we’ve come to the conclusion that Saturday is not the best day to plan to go see the biggest attraction at a National Park.

Instead we end up on another crazy curvy mountain road in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains! ⛰⛰🌞⛰⛰

We stop at Hospital Rock which has ancient Potwisha Native American pictographs. Interesting name, but It’s called Hospital Rock because an early explorer was treated for injuries here on two different occasions by the Potwisha Indians and decided to name it Hospital Rock. 😁

As I was cooking dinner, a couple rangers came up and told us there was a pop up Ranger Talk about bears 🐻 that we decided to attend. Alexis wows us with her knowledge by answering every question the Ranger asks about bears. After the talk, we participated as National Park volunteers removing and replacing Bear Aware stickers on the bear boxes at the campground. Alexis really enjoys all of this Ranger experience. 😍

Since we didn’t get to see General Sherman, we opted to go see the 2nd largest tree in the world, General Grant in Grant Grove. Fun walk! This area was the original National Park called General Grant National Park until it became part of King’s Canyon National Park - not sure why it didn’t join the rest of Sequoia National Park. 😜
We even get to see the original cabin built in 1872 that later became the housing for the first Ranger here.

We end our day with another Ranger Program about Stargazing up at Panoramic Point - an impressive overlook of the sunset and Fresno all lit up! The lights sparkle almost looking like a large body of water.
