As a young boy I was inspired by the stories of the heroes of faith who did great exploits for the Lord. After hearing their inspiring testaments of faith and courage i could never find meaning in worldly pursuits and the pursuit of worldly power. Christianity gave me something much more. It gave me purpose even in my pain and loss. It gave me power over my circumstances and situations and the power to overcome. This song is inspired by the heroes of faith and their testimonies as it is written in Hebrews 11. The heroes of faith who are mentioned here are men and women who laid down their lives and suffered loss and endured persecution for the sake of the kingdom of Heaven. "The world was not worthy of them" says the writer of Hebrews. The two characters that I've focused on are Moses and Elijah and I think this is not an accident but divine inspiration. These two men were handpicked by God to appear on thw mount of transfiguration with Christ (Matthew 17:1-8). They are the two big legends of the old testament in my book. During the arrangement of the bridge in this song where i sing about Elijah we experienced a special anointing in the studio. We felt the powerful presence and leading of the Holy spirit as we worked on this song. It is my prayer that you would be inspired by this song to lay it all down for the Lord like Moses and Elijah and challenge this generation.

Oh cloud of witnesses and saints who have gone before us. On the streets of heaven you stand and watch us as we run our race. When this world tries to seduce me and Satan tries to spin his web of deception around me. I'll remember your witness and continue your race.

The fires couldn't consume you. The waters couldn't drown you. The storm winds couldn't unsettle you. Oh disciples of the most high God!

Oh Moses of the burning bush. The one who saw the glory of God. The life of pharaoh's palace you considered rubbish when you heard the cry of your people. You stood in the gap for them. I too want to be like you and become a friend of God.

Oh Elijah of the whirlwind. The conqueror of Jezebel! You humiliated Baal and won the challenge. You brought down the fire on Mt Carmel. You declared that the Lord alone is God . When the whole world rebelled you stood alone for God!
