New Zealand is renowned for having the world’s biggest Kingfish and the list is long of places to target a really big one. Many will argue that the Three Kings Island group is the home of NZ’s biggest Kingfish but chat to the people that crew the charter boats that regularly catch these giants and you will find one place to pops up, again and again, Whakaari / White Island. We have packed the Daiwa Saltiga 20’s and are heading off the Whakatane coast, to the waters surrounding White Island, to try and do battle with one of the hardest fighting fish in the ocean.
