This is a summary slideshow of 30 days we spent driving to and around the Texas, Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico region of the US in our slightly Overland prepped Honda Passport we call "Trail Dog."

Trail Dog is lifted 2.25 inches and has a rear recovery point. I carry recovery gear, but still have the original tires because why not? They still have 9/32 in of tread.

We had started a vacation in this area in September, 2022 only to have Hurricane Ian hit our part of Florida and flood out neighborhood. The storm surge hit a foot over the tops of the mailboxes and put 18 inches of water into our house. See "Blown Away Vacation" (   • Blown Away Vacation  ) for the summary of that drama.

This time we wanted to photograph the solar eclipse on 8 Apr, 2024 and went to Kerrville where a college buddy was living. Sadly the eclipse was weather out. We planned to go to Big Bend NP and then back to Arizona to resume our vacation from 2022. That worked out great.

We only had reservations up through Patagonia, AZ. After that we were winging it. We ended up going to Sanoma, AZ; Durango, CO; Los Alamos, NM; Santa Fe, NM; Palo Duro, TX; Austin, TX and then back home with a few stops.
