Athletes tend to put a great emphasis on their physical preparation and sometimes forget the mental aspect of their performance when it matters the most. In this video, Dr. Douglas Chadwick, CMPC, discusses the importance of training the mental side of sport through the 5W’s of mental skills training: Who, What, When, Where, and Why. Athletes should strive to understand how their body responds under pressure, and why their emotions act a certain way in high performance conditions to allow themselves to develop the necessary skills to perform at their best.
