I accidentally stumbled upon the Silver Corner Mine after taking a wrong turn onto an overgrown dirt road while looking for another abandoned mine. I wasn't sure of where the road would take me, so I followed it up the mountain a short way and found myself at an abandoned mine site! Later I found out that I had discovered the Silver Corner Mine. The mine was fairly extensive with 3000 feet or so of workings as well as access points to lower levels. It was surprising to find electrical cable and light bulbs still hanging in the main tunnel -- it seemed as if the mine hadn't been worked decades. This video will also show some of the miners' humorous graffiti and artwork I found on the tunnel walls deep in the mine. I explored the entire main tunnel as well as a lengthy branching tunnel. At the end of the main tunnel I was surprised to find the skeletal remains of a somewhat large animal. Mountain lion? A burro? The teeth in the skull look flat like a burro's teeth would be. Not sure why any animal of that size would be 3000 feet inside an abandoned mine unless it had gotten totally lost and had given up on trying to find the exit.
