Another LastPass breach happened, and it was about time we did a comprehensive LastPass vs Keeper review, to establish whether Keeper can be considered one of the trustworthy alternatives to LastPass.

🔎 Security

On the surface, there are similarities, both pack industry-standard 256-bit encryption, There’s a good amount of MFA options from both. But, LastPass has fallen victim to a breach, once again.

With Keeper password manager, they do collect limited personal information, and aggregated user statistics. Not ideal, but they’re transparent about it. On the hand, LastPass shares a privacy policy with GoTo, their parent company. It’s a bit of a red flag, and makes answering “is LastPass still safe” hard.

Security-wise, on the keeper vs LastPass review, most standard practices are similar, but if privacy and reputation are your biggest concerns then you might prefer Keeper.

⭐ Password sharing

With Keeper, all users can benefit from their one-time share feature. This feature is device locked for extra security, meaning the link is only accessible to the original recipient, and on their device only. LastPass has this feature too, and it works well, but unfortunately, they made it plan-dependent.

💎 Unique features

This is where Keeper really shines, they’ve got a safe messaging app, really unique from a password manager, and various add-ons that are unfortunately locked behind a paywall. My favorite is the BreachWatch, which scans the dark web for leaked credentials. Also, the self-destructing vault.

LastPass has the useful addition of file storage and even dark web monitoring in their entry-level premium plan. Yet, only 1 user can use this plan at any given time. And I’d really like some more advanced, or unique offerings. What do you think? Do you have any LastPass alternatives?

💻 Apps & ease of use

Keeper supports more operating systems, including Linux. But when it comes to actual navigation, and ease, there are pros & cons on both sides of this LastPass vs keeper review…

With Keeper, the app’s interface is contemporary, well-organized, and a breeze to navigate. All features are neatly categorized, and you get quick access to the most important elements: vault, identity and payment details, security audit, and deleted items.

LastPass also has a desktop password manager app. But, it’s only available to paid users and is a pared-down variant of its web browser version. Plus, it has limited functionality.

Final thoughts ➡️

Look, all things considered in this password manager comparison, Keeper is just a better password manager. Reputable, easy to use, affordable, and with all the expected security sprinkles. That isn’t to say LastPass is terrible, they actually have a really helpful free password manager plan. Yet, I just can’t see past my qualms with their privacy policy, and this LastPass compromised business, let’s face it, it isn’t the first time!
