Shrimp Thoran
Ingredients
1) Shrimp – ½ kg
2) Salt – to taste
3) Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp

Masala
4) Grated coconut – 1cup
5) Green chilli / Red chilli powder – 4 to 5 / 2 to 2 ½ tsp
6) Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
7) Coriander powder – ½ to 1 tsp
8) Shallots – 10 to 15
9) Pepper – 10 to 12

Seasoning
10) Oil – 1 tbsp
11) Mustard seeds – ½ tsp
12) Curry leaves – plenty

Preparation
1) Marinate the deveined cleaned prawns /shrimp with salt & turmeric powder, boil in a cup of water for 5 minutes. Set aside.
2) Crush the boiled shrimp. Separately crush the ingredients for the masala. Mix the two together.
3) Heat the frying pan & season with the ingredients. Pour the ‘shrimp – boiled’ water, the crushed shrimp & the masala.
4) Close & cook 2 to 3 minutes. Let the water evaporate stir & serve after 10 minutes.
