Set in Kenya’s Maasai Mara National Reserve, this episode introduces us to a mother cheetah and her four cubs, the latter being about two months old. As they climb trees,
play together, and cuddle up to their mother, they could not be more adorable. The mother tries to catch a Thomson's gazelle, but it gets away. Next, she is harassed by a herd of buffalo. She is not having a very good day. But then her luck improves as she succeeds in making a kill and feeding her cubs. Cute as they are, the cubs devour her catch with the gusto of true carnivores. After eating, they suckle enthusiastically. We leave the cheetah family enjoying a moment of peace and happiness on the savannah,
where life and death continually meet and mingle.
