APAP (Auto-adjusting Positive Airway Pressure) and CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure) are both treatments for sleep apnea but differ in how they work. CPAP delivers a constant air pressure throughout the night, making it simple and reliable for those whose apnea is consistent. However, some people find the constant pressure uncomfortable, especially during exhalation.

APAP, on the other hand, automatically adjusts the air pressure based on your needs, offering a more personalized experience. This is ideal for those whose sleep apnea varies, but the constant adjustments can sometimes disrupt sleep for sensitive users.

Ultimately, neither is better or worse; the choice depends on individual needs and should be made in consultation with a healthcare provider.

However, due to the complexity of sleep apnea treatment, APAP machines can't always adjust as quickly as they need to. Therefore, in theory, they are most certainly better. However, in practice we find that CPAP therapy delivers more consistent results. This video explains why.

Luckily, if you buy an APAP machine, you can try both! They are just settings within the same machine until like a BPAP machine, which is delivered through a different device.
