Aragoke is kind of a special variety if you ask me. It is a doitsu variety, but different. It has large scales and honestly I find it a fascinating variety to look at. Most Doitsu have a symmetric placement of scales. But Aragoke actually don’t have this.

Aragoke can be translated to ‘large armour scales’ or ‘armoured scales’. And if you look at this variety, that makes sense right? Look at how large the scales on this variety are.

Ara comes from Arai and actually stands for rough. Well and as you can see the scales are randomly placed on different locations, in different sizes. And the scales are enormous and robust! So that can be called Rough indeed! Like what I mentioned before, there is no symmetry in the scalations.

The Aragoke that I like most are the ones that are almost fully covered in large scales. It looks like a fully armoured knight from the middle ages.
The scales look as if they are made of gold in the sun. Shiny sacles, luster and ginrin is also there. Koi with ginrin have shiny scales, just like this one as you can see.

Just take a look by yourself!
