Every koi pond needs a Chag (Chagoi). Since the first time I introduced a Chag to my koi pond some 25 years ago I've been convinced of this. They are always the character in the pond and bring a calming influence to all the other koi. They are always the first up for food and always grow really well as they are much closer genetically to the original wild magoi from which koi descend.

In this video I introduce my new Chag and talk about why I chose this particular Marusei Chag from Quality Nishikigoi. At the end is a couple of shots of her the very first day she went in the pond. eating out of my hand from literally day one!!
