Double Decker Living Root Bridge – This is Part 3 of my Meghalaya Series. In this video, I have done a few hikes and visited a few of the famous and not-so-famous waterfalls of Meghalaya. This also included a trek from Tyrna village to Nongriat village to reach the famous living root bridge. It required me to climb down almost 3500 stairs one- way and it was one of the most exhausting yet fun hikes I did in my life.

Meghalaya is known for its waterfall and living root bridges. The double decker living root bridge in Nongriat Village is one of the manmade wonders dating back countless centuries. Upon reaching Nongriat village you would witness the aerial roots of massive Banyan Trees on the either sides of the river. These roots are continuously twisted and given direction. They are woven together by the locals till the time these roots are shaped into a study bridge. You would be surprised to know that these living root bridges are the only medium used by the locals to cross the rivers in Meghalaya.
