CAN IT BE DONE?! I take a free chair destined for the dump and paint it and wax it to see if I can DIY it so it looks like leather! See if I was successful!


I took inspriation on this one from @diy.danie and @lonefoxhome as well as @jamieandsarah . There were lots of twists and turns and bumps along the way!

To paint a chair to look like leather, you don't need too many things. First I chose to clean the chair with my Bissell upholstery cleaner/vacuum, then I painted it mixing together 3 of Annie Sloan brand chalk paints. I used Arles, Honfleur, and Barcelona Orange, but I should have definitely bought way more paint. So it goes.

Then I put on Annie Sloan clear wax and finally buffed it out and added some texture and accent with Annie Sloan dark wax (brown). I am shocked by the results! This didn't turn out perfectly and it doesn't look exactly like leather but I am happy with the results of painting this chair!
