In the first episode of the Malaysia 2023 series, we explore one of the most visited destinations in Malaysia - Melaka!

Melaka Travel Guide -
Duration - Tourists and travellers usually visit Melaka on a day trip from Kuala Lumpur or from Singapore - but to truly immerse yourself in this place and experience the vibes of Melaka, spend at least a couple of days here! Though all the "things to do in Melaka" and sightseeing places are close to one another - this place is truly about experiencing how laid-back it is!

Reaching from Kuala Lumpur to Melaka - Buses are the most convenient and cost-effective option. Takes about 2-2.5 hours to reach Melaka from Kuala Lumpur depending on the traffic.

Getting around Melaka - Pre-paid taxis are available from Melaka Sentral bus stop. Once in town, all the places of interest are close to one another, and you can easily get around on foot. Grab taxis are also available, but if you want a fun spin to sightseeing in Melaka - go in the colourful trishaws to explore Melaka! And if you have the time, a nice way to tour Melaka is go on the Melaka River Cruise to see the place from a completely different angle!

Jonker Night Market - If you are planning a trip to Melaka, try to visit the place on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday. The Jonker Night Market is open on these days from 6 PM to midnight, with hundreds of stalls to sample food and drinks from. It is quite an experience!

Where to stay in Melaka
There are a lot of places to stay in Melaka - you will never run out of options. There are a lot of hotels located near the Jonker Walk, but the place gets really crowded over the weekend.
We stayed at 1825 Gallery Hotel which was a little bit away from Jonker Walk - but not too far, just an easy 10 minute walk by the riverfront!

Needless to say, I absolutely fell in love with Melaka! And if you are planning a trip to Malaysia, do ensure you include a trip to Melaka in your Malaysia Travel Itinerary!
