On Friday 16th March, James Morrison and the band from St Leonards College staged a surprise flash mob at Bluestone Wine Lounge at InterContinental Melbourne The Rialto, much to the delight of unsuspecting guests and diners.

Pretending to simply be another guest enjoying the hotel facilities, James broke into song while chatting to two unsuspecting patrons, pulling out his trumpet and belting out his famous jazz tunes. Slowly joined by other musicians from St Leanord's College, James Morrison treated onlookers to an unscheduled jazz concert.

The jazz medley echoed through the hotel, with the acoustics of its high ceilings between the Winfield and Rialto wings helping to carry the sound through the building. Hotel guests in their rooms, as well as staff and guests in other areas of the hotel, emerged on balconies to witness the spectacle.

Bluestone Wine Lounge in the atrium of InterContinental Melbourne The Rialto is an informal and relaxed bar that serves beverages all day, making it a popular meeting spot for Melbourne's business people. With a list of more than 30 wines by the glass, including wines from some of Australia's most exclusive boutique wineries and the largest selection of premium Penfolds wines available in Melbourne, Bluestone Wine Lounge comes alive at night. A popular place to drink and mingle, the bar is built on one of Melbourne's historic cobblestone laneways, which runs between Collins Street and Flinders Lane.
