Here is a video of the Los Angeles Junction Railway (LAJ) throughout various locations in the City of Vernon, CA. The Los Angeles Junction Railway is a terminal switching railway and wholly-owned subsidiary of BNSF, providing switching operating on 64 miles of track in the industrial cities of Vernon, Maywood, Bell, and Commerce, southeast of Downtown LA in an area known as the Central Manufacturing District. In this video, I chase the Y-VRN2271 Vernon Job around its areas of operation, serving industries such as Rehrig Pacific, Vernon Team Track, and World Oil Terminal. The power for this job is a pair of GP50 motors, with the leader 3119 still wearing the BN Whiteface paint. This was a rare sight, as most of the LAJ locomotives are rebuilt GP50s painted in the H4 scheme. Enjoy the sights and sounds of this local job switching on run-down industrial branchline trackage and blaring its horn for under-protected crossings with mechanical bells on busy urban streets. Thanks for watching!
