The Asian Shooting Confederation (ASC) held its General Assembly at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Kuwait on Saturday, September 2nd, 2023. This significant event witnessed the gathering of representatives from 41 ASC member federations.

In his opening address, H.E. Sheikh Salman AlSabah expressed his collective thanks and appreciation to His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Nawaf AlAhmad AlJaber AlSabah, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Meshaal AlAhmad AlJaber AlSabah, His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad AlNawaf AlAhmad AlSabah, the Minister of State for Youth Affairs, the Public Authority for Sport, the Government and people of Kuwait, Kuwait National Olympic Committee and Kuwait Shooting Federation for their continuous support to ASC. He also took a moment to commend ASC Secretary General Engineer Duaij AlOtaibi for his invaluable contributions to the coordination between member federations and the ASC Headquarters.

The ASC President extended a warm welcome to the President of the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF), H.E. Luciano Rossi, and ISSF Secretary General H.E. Willi Grill, acknowledging their significant contributions to Olympic Shooting Sport, particularly in the Asian region.

In a rare distinction, ISSF President H.E. Luciano Rossi was honored with the Rare Distinction of Honorary Membership by the ASC President for his longstanding dedication to Olympic Shooting Sports. ISSF Secretary General H.E. Willi Grill, the late H.E. Suebchai Chainuvati (former ASC ExCo), H.E. Ali AlKuwari (ASC Vice President), and H.E. Abdullah Salem Bin Yaqoob (ASC ExCo) received the ASC distinction of merit. Last but not least, the ASC President awarded H.E. KUO Chung-Hsing (ASC Vice-President) with the ASC Honorary Presidency for his remarkable service to ASC.

Further awarding of trophies and certificates were made to achievements of ASC member federations - China, Iran, Korea, and Kuwait federations and their shooters who earned medals at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

The ASC Secretary General have elaborated on the major the activities that happened in the past four years, highlighting the ASC Training Camps, Championships, meetings, and major events that played a huge role in the development of our member federations and athletes. Additionally, the ASC Secretary General presented the financial report. Both reports were unanimously approved by the General Assembly.

One of the major highlights of this assembly was the election of key leadership positions. His Excellency Sheikh Salman AlSabah, representing Kuwait, emerged by acclamation by the General Assembly as the President of the Asian Shooting Confederation for the upcoming four-year term, spanning from September 2023 to September 2027. Joining him in this critical role is Eng. Duaij AlOtaibi, also from Kuwait, who was chosen by acclamation as the Secretary General for the same tenure. Additionally, the assembly elected five Vice-Presidents, Secretary General, and eight Executive Committee Members.

President H.E. Sheikh Salman AlSabah extended his heartfelt appreciation to all Asian Federations and Executive Committee members for their unwavering support and dedication to the development of Asian Shooting Sport.

This event marks a pivotal moment in the continued growth and development of shooting sports in Asia, with new leadership and a commitment to excellence.

The ASC General Assembly has set the stage for a new era of excellence and growth in Asian shooting sports under its newly elected leadership.
