-Visiting in person gives you a sense of the community you might join
-Visiting helps you decide if you like the surrounding area
-Make sure the visit is an official visit - register with the college so they know you were there to demonstrate interest
-Attend the college's tour and attend their info session
-Take pictures and notes, grab fliers, and talk to students
