A rhythm of love... 👁💛 Here's the 12" extended cut of my 80s version of "Slave to the Rhythm" by Michael Jackson! 🕺🏾💃🏾 This one is actually one of my more older tracks. It was done in January of 2021, but I just wasn't satisfied with it, so I never got around to putting it out... until now. 😏 Of course, I updated it a bit, especially for this 12" extended portion. 💿 Enjoy! 😎🤘🏾🖤 Stay tuned… ♾

Get it while it's hot! 🔥 Seriously, I know some, if not most or all of these songs may get axed by "them" at any moment, so please use the download links well and share the music (album/songs) with your friends so that the Groove'n'Funk never truly goes away. Thank you! 🖤

The original version of “Slave To The Rhythm” was leaked by American producer Eulonzo on March 26, 2022. It was unknown this version existed.

Although fans are familiar with the original version from the “Xscape” album in 2001, it has been revealed that the song “Slave To The Rhythm” was originally written and recorded as far back as 1984-1986, during the Victory sessions. It is believed to have been made around the same time as the original versions of “Unbreakable” and “Invincible”, which is currently unreleased.

It has been revealed that this was another one of the original songs chosen for Berry Gordy’s “The Last Dragon” movie, this one having another connection to one of the main characters Laura Charles, played by Denise “Vanity” Matthews. Although the song appears to be written partly about her, there is believed to be no history or past between her and Michael. He began working further on this version around 1984-1986 with Quincy Jones and Joe Kehr, with his horn section; Eric Hayes & Barron “Suitor” Massey, with Sheila E. on timbale percussion on the 12” extended version.

While the song runs around over 4 minutes, the full-length version is almost 10 minutes long, with multiple breakdowns in extended portions. Due to time constraints, the song was edited down to potentially fit on a vinyl if they ever decided to put it on an album, or possibly The Last Dragon soundtrack.

While they all liked this version, it was ultimately pulled from The Last Dragon soundtrack due to Michael wanting the song for potentially a later album but with a different sound, therefore he and Joe gave elements of the track to Berry & his team and the song was later replaced by 7th Heaven by Vanity on the soundtrack.

Michael would go on to eventually revisit “Slave to the Rhythm” during the Dangerous sessions, which never made it to the album. Despite several leaks & remixed versions, the song would remain unreleased until the Estate posthumously released a new version & the original version for the “Xscape” album in 2014.
