The first monthly KDHS lecture of the 2024/25 season took place on Thursday 26 September 2024 at 8pm in the Teach Ceoil, with the AGM held before the lecture at 7:30pm. This change of date was to facilitate our speaker Fiona Fitzsimons, who has teaching commitments on Tuesday evenings. Her talk is entitled "Evidence in Folklore and Oral Traditions for Family History", and includes case-studies specific to Clare and Limerick.

Fiona is a co-founder of Eneclann (founded 1996) and of the Irish Family History Centre at EPIC (founded 2016). Since 1996 she has led the Eneclann research team and established their work as a benchmark in family history in Ireland and internationally. Clients include the White House (President Obama and President Biden administrations), Tourism Ireland and Aer Lingus, as well as private commissions. She teaches a two year course in Irish Family and Social History in Trinity College, Dublin, and is a regular contributor to History Ireland and Irish Lives Remembered Magazine.

Apologies for the poor audio quality for the questions from the audience at the end of the video.
