Dear Viewers, "Soibum" (fermented bamboo shoot slices) is a very special culinary item for people of North Eastern states of India particularly Manipur, Nagaland, Tripura , Assam and Mizoram. Many mouth watering recipes are prepared with "Soibum" as main constituent or flavour enricher of fish/meat based recipes. For the Manipuris/Meiteis "Soibum" is a quintessential food item sought after throughout the year in all seasons. Coming back to my today's Recipe, it's not an exaggeration that I have been longing for cooking it for the last 10 months but couldn't as "Soibum" is not available in the local market here in Vellore. Fortunately, last week I got 1 kg of "Soibum" parcelled by Speed Post from Imphal, my hometown. So, presenting "SOIBUM GA NGA ATAOBAGA THONGBA" which is one of my favourites among the Manipuri Recipes. All four of us in my family relished the uniquely unparalleled taste today.
