http://www.anatbanielmethod.com/children In this video, Anat Baniel responds to a parent's question. The parent had recently heard a radio interview with a disabled man whose main regret was that he felt people had tried to make him "normal."
So, how can parents justify using the Anat Baniel Method to help their child?
Anat begins her response by saying that she doesn't try to make anyone "normal." She doesn't even know what "normal" is and she doesn't want to be "normal."
Anat wants, and she wants everyone who works with her, to be extraordinary. This is what she is working towards. She describes her work with children with special needs as providing opportunities for other possibilities for each individual child. She does not "predict" what children will or will not be able to do. Instead, she sees and connects with each child in whatever place they are at.
Anat Baniel has worked with kids with cerebral palsy, autism, traumatic brain injury, ADHD, brachial plexus injury, developmental delays, and many other conditions...often with breakthrough results. This video segment from an ABM professional training program has a lot of wonderful insight, and beautiful, moving comments from a number of parents of children with special needs.
