For 4-6 people
Preparation: 10 minutes
Cooking: 20 - 25 minutes

Ingredients

25-30 shallots
8 cloves of garlic
2 tablespoons of oil
1 teaspoon of salt
1 bowl of strained yogurt (6 tablespoons)
1 teaspoon of salt (for strained yogurt)

For the sauce of the sauté;

1 teaspoon of cumin
1 teaspoon of thyme
1 teaspoon of red pepper flakes
1 teaspoon of ground pepper
Half a Turkish coffee cup of pomegranate syrup (3 tablespoons)
2 tablespoons of oil

Preparation
First, peel 25-30 shallots and put them in a baking dish.
Add 8 cloves of garlic, 2 tablespoons of oil or olive oil and 1 teaspoon of salt and mix all the ingredients.
Cover the bowl with a stretch film and leave the onions in the refrigerator for 1 hour. Then let the onions cook in the oven at 170 degrees for 20-25 minutes.
Add some oil to a suitable pan and then add the onions to the pan.
Sauté the onions for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Add 1 teaspoon of red pepper powder, 1 teaspoon of cumin, 1 teaspoon of thyme and finally 1 teaspoon of chili pepper flakes to the onions that start to change color and continue sautéing.
Finally, add half a cup of pomegranate syrup and continue cooking the onions on low heat for another 5 minutes. If the consistency of the pomegranate syrup you use is too thick, you can lighten it by adding a little water.
Now let's take our onions off the stove and let them rest for about 5 minutes.
For the yogurt sauce, add 1 teaspoon of salt to a bowl of strained yogurt and whisk.
Spread our yogurt on a serving plate. Place our shallots on top.
After sprinkling some chopped parsley if desired, our delicious shallot appetizer is ready to serve. Bon appetit!
