Combine the Backbone and Caroline Dormon trails with a section of the Sandstone trail and you'll make a 28-mile loop! I did this trip in two and a half days to get a break from the Christmas holidays and really enjoyed it.

1/26/18 Update - I refer to this as the Kisatchie Loop Alternate Route 1. There is a larger 40-mile trail I call the Kisatchie Loop, of which this is a shorter alternate for.
