I’ve gotten pretty good at making very fine feathers that I shave off and let pile up. But, I most need to practice making “attached” feathers... feather sticks for those inevitable windy and/or wet days.
For practice, I used my 2x6 bow drill bow to feather and baton with my putty-knife knife. I then, ferro ignited the feathers in these wet conditions to get the rest of the "bow" kindling burning.
