This video shows how I made my own dowel to fill the wooden base hole for the lid. Having a dowel looking chopped at base surface is not pretty so I created a dowel with a head larger than the size of the hole to have a clean base finish. I always use the same-style dowels for my salt cellars too. For the wooden base on the bottom, the dowel head is inside the basket, so what you see towards the end of the video is an Ebony disc.

I have other ideas to beautifully finish bases. I can't wait to try them in near future.

ウッドベースの穴埋めに使うダボが、ベース表面でぶつ切りにされてる様子は見栄えが悪いので、穴より少し大きめの頭付きダボを作って穴埋めをしています。ソルトセラー（小さな木箱）などを作る際も、いつもこのスタイルのダボで蓋の穴を埋めています。本体の底のベースに関しては、バスケットの内側にダボの頭がくるように穴を埋め、下は黒檀のディスクを作って見た目を美しくします。

ウッドベースの仕上げアイデアは他にも浮かんでいるので、近々試してみようと思っています。
