Hello family, in this video I am sharing the experience I had during my visit to Dhankar and DIY trek to the sacred Dhankar lake which is at an altitude of 13580 ft in Spiti, Himachal Pradesh, while on my Spiti valley road trip. We had booked our package through Spiti Holiday Adventure company, but I will recommend you to directly contact Mr Rajbir Singh (the cab driver we had). He is a really polite local guy who does road trip in all of Spiti, Ladakh and rest of Himachal.

Dhankar which used to be the capital of Spiti earlier is known for the Beautiful monastery on the rock cut mountains. But the Sacred lake which is at 13580 ft, is even more beautiful. The trek to that lake takes maximum of 1.5- 2 hrs from Dhankar. The trail is quite steep initially so do take your trek pole along and some trail mix as there is no food options on the trek.

The town of Kaza is the subdivisional headquarters of the remote Spiti Valley in the western Himalayas in the Lahaul and Spiti district of Himachal Pradesh. Spiti is a high altitude or cold desert having close similarities to the neighbouring Tibet and Ladakh regions in terms of terrain, climate and the Buddhist culture. Kaza is the largest township and commercial center of the Spiti valley and is situated along the Spiti River at an elevation of 3,650 metres (11,980 ft) above mean sea level.
