Sethan, a unique Buddhist village in Himachal Pradesh is located at a distance of about 14-15 kms from Manali and sits in the middle of Dhauladhar mountain range. It is famous for snowboarding and it's panoramic views.

Jobra is the last place in this area and beyond this point vehicles are not allowed. Jobra is beyond Sethan and is just 4 kms ahead of Sethan. Jobra is the base location for Hampta Pass Trek. There are approximately 42 hair pin bends in the route.

In winters both, Sethan & Jobra, turns into Winter Wonderlands. If you travel to Sethan or Jobra in winter season, you can stick to 4 by 4 as there is a lot of snowfall here and the road is quite slippery. 4 by 4 is a safe option. These places are quite peaceful, adventurous and have lots of scenic views.

In Sethan you can do many snow activities, you can also stay in the famous igloo house here. From Sethan you can trek to Indrasana Peak. Well Sethan stands at approximately 9500 feet. Probability of getting altitude mountain sickness is bit there. So please take precautions while travelling.

How to Reach :
1. One can reach Manali or Old Manali by Bus, taxi or other means of transport.
2. From Manali / Old Manali you can hire a taxi (preferably 4x4 during winters) to Sethan and Jobra.

Accommodation: - Hotels, home stays and igloo houses are available in Sethan and nearby areas. We stayed in Casual Monks Cafe, near Sethan.

Best time to Visit: Jan to May. It snows heavily in winter months. We had visited in Feb 2024.

3. Stargazing
4. Igloo House Stay
5. Visit Pandu Ropa
6. Hampta Pass trek (starts from Jobra)

Route:
1. By Car: Delhi - Manali (can be skipped) - Sethan - Jobra
2. By Bus: From Delhi, one can reach Manali by bus and then can hire taxi to reach Sethan - Jobra.
3. by Air: nearest airport is Kullu Manali airport - Manali (can be skipped) - Sethan - Jobra.

Where we stayed in Sethan:
We booked our stay at Casual Monks, which is situated 5 kms before Sethan and at hair pin bend number 24. Shatpal from Casual Monks, welcomed us with the traditional Pahadi cap. Naveen and Shatpal Bhaiyya are volunteering in Casual Monk, they also compose songs and sing it by playing guitars.

Distances:
1. Sethan is 14 to 15 kms from Manali
2. Casual Monks is 5 kms before Sethan
3. Jobra is 4 kms ahead of Sethan

Package that we booked:
1. Stay package in Casual Monks: It included 1 day stay, breakfast & dinner for 2 people and including heater. Costed Rs.4000 for 2 people.
2. Day Trip to Sethan and Jobra: Included pick up from Old Manali and drop in Manali (next day) along with 4 by 4 car, Driver, guide and snacks. This package costed around Rs.7000.

Tourist spots: Allain Barrage, Pandu Ropa, Sethan, Jobra, Igloo village, Hampta Pass Trek and Indrasana Peak

We reached Manali from Delhi via bus. We stayed 2 days in Old Manali and 1 day in Sethan.
