I love it when the painting shapes become kind of a Rorschach for people's imaginations. That's what I love about abstraction, it's multi-interpretational. There's nothing wrong with the narrative, and I worked in that style for many years, but I didn't want a painting to be telling one story. When it's descriptive, you lead people, not that there's anything wrong with that, but I prefer the kind of stream of consciousness spontaneity and multi-dimensional interpretive opportunities that abstraction provides. Plus, it's just fun, it's fun to dance around and apply paint to the surface.
